Z83 Form Filler

The Z83 is the application form for every South African public service job. Fill it in here step by step, then print it or save it as a PDF and sign it. Your answers stay on your device.

Check the advert first. Most departments accept a neatly completed Z83 in this layout. If an advert says you must use the official PDF, download it from the DPSA website and copy your answers across. An unsigned or incomplete Z83 is usually rejected.

Z83 form: the mistakes that get applications rejected

Government departments receive thousands of applications for each post, so screening panels reject forms that are incomplete. These are the most common reasons:

  • No signature. An unsigned Z83 is treated as not submitted.
  • Wrong or missing reference number. Copy it exactly from the advert. Use a separate Z83 for every post.
  • Unanswered questions. Answer every Yes/No question, even if the answer is No.
  • Missing CV. Always attach a detailed CV, and certified copies only if the advert asks for them.
  • Late submission. Applications received after the closing date are not considered.
